Déjà Vu?

You may remember 2 seasons ago when we just about retained our Premier League status finishing on 35 points, a points total that would almost certainly see you relegated any other year.

Our saving grace that season was that there were simply 3 worse teams than us in Hull, Burnley and the unfortunate Pompey. And it has to be said, if we go up automatically this year it will simply be because there hasn't been enough of a challenge at the top of the table. Southampton are doing well, yes, but even they aren't averaging 2 points a game and we're 7 points clear of 4th, 10 if we win at Peterborough next week so if Reading hadn't been on a storming run we'd be 2nd by a distance.

I'll be optimistic and say we'll still go up automatically, because although we are in a bit of a slump in form, we shouldn't overlook the fact that we're unbeaten in 9 which includes 2 last minute equalisers so the fighting spirit is there. Reading slipped up on Tuesday and allowed us to gain a point on them that gives us the ability to leapfrog them if we win our game in hand. Obviously their winning run wasn't going to last forever and if they start to falter now it would be perfectly timed as we play them at the Boleyn at the end of the month.

We can still do it, we just need to get behind the team and be the 12th man!

COME ON YOU IRONS!
